The home defeat to Airdrie on 8/3/1997 was hard to take. Thistle threw away a 1-goal lead and fell to the winner 6 minutes into added time against a team with no recognised keeper and all three of their subs having already come on. Your researcher spoke to an elderly supporter obviously suffering from the poor form on view and hoping for better things tried to cheer him up by telling him Jesus (Tejero) was coming on as a sub (pronouncing the first name as per the Bible). Back came the reply "We're so bad it's his faither we need." [The "Glasgow Herald" report of the match claimed added time lasted 11 minutes, 56 seconds.]
