You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

LAMBIE DROPPED, BUT NO HARD FEELINGS

No, not a newspaper headline from John Lambie's playing days with St Johnstone. While on a mid-season break in Blackpool some of the players lifted him up and, intending to throw him into the sea, they dropped him. The "Dundee Courier" reported on 31/1/1992 that John was hoping to get out of hospital that day. He suffered two cracked ribs and fluid on the lung but Director Brown McMaster was able to assure the players there were no hard feelings on John's part and that it was something he would have join in himself as a player.
