You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

In their report of the Thistle v Kilmarnock match on 29/12/1962 the "Glasgow Herald" deplored Kilmarnock's "experiment" of playing a player (ostensibly as No11, a left winger) as a wing-half and making "no semblance of an effort" to play as a winger. Often verging towards the po-faced, they also criticised a Kilmarnock player for the "most provocative " way in which he had congratulated his teammate for scoring their opening goal.
