by Jack Little

On 20/9/1958 the" Daily Herald" reported that the jockey Lester Piggott was interviewed by the Stewards following his coming in second on Partick Thistle (owned by the Queen) at Kempton Park the previous day. The horse was 2nd favourite at 4-1 for the 4.00 Avington Stakes. He appeared to have started the race from a position other than that he was drawn but no further action was taken. Partick Thistle owned by the Queen. There's a thought!
