You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

The "Evening Times" reported that "only" 1,600 attended the Reserve League Cup Final (2nd leg) at Brockville on 22/2/1956 and that Thistle's share of the "gate" was £40. The young Falkirk side won 2-0 to lift the cup 3-1 on aggregate - except that there wasn't a cup to lift. There were no medals either and no officials from the Scottish League attended the match. 3 days later Thistle's reserves won 4-1 at the same venue.
