You Couldn't Make It Up!

How times have changed! In their report of the Motherwell v Thistle game on 30/10/1943 the "Motherwell Times" devoted a whole paragraph just to applaud a Motherwell player for deliberately knocking the ball out for a throw-in because he saw a Thistle player down injured and in obvious pain. They termed him a "Gentleman No 1". It is not known if Thistle gave them the ball back.
