You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

Thistle's trainer Jimmy Kennedy and "travelling reserve" Alex MacLennan caught a taxi from Dundee Central Station to Dens Park for the match against Dundee on 16/11/1935. The taxi was in collision with a lorry and while MacLennan was unhurt, Kennedy sustained injuries to both knees. He refused to be taken to hospital and "pluckily went on with his usual duties of preparing his team for the match" ("Dundee Courier".) He did a fair job. It was a 3-3 draw.
