You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

In a piece on 27/2/1931 about the difficulties of football management and players claiming they know better, the "Nelson Leader" quoted an extract from a recent Partick Thistle official programme saying "Our players seem to be a law unto themselves. They will not play to order and matches have been lost that could have been won had good advice been taken". Thistle finished 4th that season, just 7 points off the pace, so perhaps the players knew more about football than they were given credit for.
