You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

With Thistle sitting top of the league, the match with 4th placed Motherwell at Fir Park on 22/11/1930 was keenly awaited. A special train took 200 Thistle fans to the match but they only got about 100 yards out of the station when they met the Thistle players coming the other way. The referee had declared the pitch unplayable because of snow. They were all back in Glasgow by 3.00.
