On 15/2/1930 Thistle beat Aberdeen 3-2 in the Scottish Cup. On 18/3 the "Scotsman" reported that police in Aberdeen were investigating a letter they had received claiming that an Aberdeen player had "sold" the match "for a consideration". The player was adamant that it was untrue and told Aberdeen's directors he was innocent.
