Ah, fan loyalty, ye canny beat it! When Davie Ness scored Thistle's 3rd goal at Tannadice against Dundee United in the Scottish Cup on 1/2/1930 (a 3-0 win), it signalled an exodus of home fans. Did they seek shelter from the rain in the local pubs or go home early? No. The "Glasgow Herald" noted that many of them simply crossed the road to watch the last half-hour of Dundee v St Johnstone - perhaps hoping they would see their city rivals knocked out of the cup. They must have been doubly disappointed. Dundee won 4-1.
