The "Sunday Post" described the St Mirren v Thistle match on 5/4/1924 as a drab end-of-season affair and reported the main entertainment came from a student collecting for charity. Once the coin had been tossed to decide choice of ends, he ran onto the pitch, picked up the coin and promptly put in his collecting tin.
