You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

The match against Hibs on 17/9/1910 at Easter Road was a towsy affair. Alec Raisbeck and a Hibs player were sent off for fighting and at one point Thistle had three players off getting treatment. At the final whistle some of the crowd invaded the pitch and the referee came close to being assaulted. Raisbeck was subsequently censured. There was, however, a strange ending in that the SFA Referee Committee fined the referee, Mr T Dougray 10/- (around £55 today) for failing to turn up at the meeting to give his evidence.
