You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

On 2/11/1905 the SFL meeting considered a complaint by Thistle that for their match at Pittodrie on 19/8/1905 Aberdeen had opened another entrance without declaring it on the return that was given to the visiting club. The implication was that money taken at this gate was excluded from the total on which Thistle's share of the gate money was based. The committee were satisfied that this was a genuine error on the part of Aberdeen and they were also happy to confirm that there was absolutely no truth in the rumour circulating in north that Aberdeen had bribed Thistle not to raise the matter with the SFL.
