Football economics. Several papers reported that the crowd at Easter Road on 19/1/1901 was "meagre". At the end of the match the takings were only £9.15s.3d and took only 63 seconds to count. Thistle had to receive the league guarantee of £10 and the fees for the referee and linesmen came to £6.6s. Hibs (whose average weekly costs were £50) thus made a loss on the day of £9.15s.3d. Their only consolation was that they won 2-0.
