The "Belfast Telegraph" doesn't seem to have been too impressed by Thistle's performance against Linfield on 28/2/1891. In their 3/3 edition they reported that Distillery were trying to fix up some fixtures against Scottish clubs at Easter and commented "no doubt their intentions are good but if the visitors are in the habit of playing such a game as Partick Thistle did on Saturday, it would be better to leave them alone".
