You Couldn't Make It Up!

On 11/1/1890 the theatrical newspaper "The Era" reported that at the Aberdeen Alhambra Varieties on 4/1 presentations were made to comic vocalist Mr J B Preston and Mr S Picton ("a handsome gold medal and an amber cigarette holder" respectively) by A M Smith, Secretary, on behalf of members of the Partick Thistle football club following the successful conclusion of the spectacle "Gathering of the Clans". (Thistle had played Aberdeen that afternoon.)
