William Nimmo was born on Sunday, 19th September, 1920, in Lundin Links, Fife.

The 5' 11 (11st 8lbs) goalkeeper signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Saturday, 16th February, 1946, having most recently been with Falkirk.

Aged 25, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 20th April, 1946, in a 2-2 draw away to Clachnacuddin in the Victory Cup.

There were no clean-sheets for Willie during his spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 1st January, 1947, in a 4-2 win away to Clyde in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 13 occasions.

Willie's club-list included Dennistoun Waverley, Falkirk, Stirling Albion, Alloa Athletic, Partick Thistle, Airdrieonians, Crystal Palace and Stewart & Lloyds.

Historian's note: Not to be confused with another goalkeeper, William Brown Nimmo, who was born on Thursday, 11th January, 1934, in Forth, South Lanarkshire. Our William Nimmo needs to have been born in the 1920s at the earliest.
