William Martin McGuire was born on Thursday, 24th January, 1957, in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

The 5' 6 (8st 8lbs) forward signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle circa Saturday, 13th June, 1987, having most recently been with Falkirk.

Aged 30, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 3rd August, 1987, in a 2-1 friendly defeat away to Baillieston Juniors.

Willie scored his first two goals for Thistle on Saturday, 8th August, 1987, in a 3-2 defeat away to Meadowbank Thistle in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 7 goals on Saturday, 9th April, 1988, in a 2-1 win at home to Meadowbank Thistle in the SFL First Division.
