Robertson was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The 5' 9 (11st 0lbs) forward joined George Easton's Thistle for a trial in September, 1921, whilst a Kirkintilloch Rob Roy player. He made his only appearance on Monday, 19th September, 1921, in a 3-1 friendly win at home to Tottenham Hotspur. There were no goals for William in his one-off appearance for Thistle. His club-list included Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Partick Thistle, Clydebank FC, Aberdeen and St Mirren. We don't know where or when William died. *
