William Hamilton was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The forward signed for Thistle on Tuesday, 19th May, 1903, having most recently been with Cleland Rangers.

He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 10th October, 1903, in a 2-1 win at home to Morton in the SFL First Division.

William scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 12th December, 1903, in a 1-0 friendly win away to East Stirlingshire.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 16th April, 1904, in a 1-0 friendly win at home to Leith Athletic, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions.

His club-list included Cleland Rangers, Partick Thistle and Alloa Athletic.
