Walter McLean was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The defender joined Thistle in 1885. He made his first known appearance on Saturday, 26th September, 1885, in a 2-2 friendly draw at home to Dumbarton. Walter scored his only known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 4th May, 1889, in a 6-2 friendly win at home to Rangers. That goal came in his 15th (and last known) appearance for the club.
