Tom McInnes |
![]() Tom McInnes was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward joined Thistle in January, 1893, having most recently been with Glasgow Wanderers. He made his first known appearance on Saturday, 14th January, 1893, in a 2-0 friendly defeat at home to Port Glasgow Athletic. Tom scored his first known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 21st January, 1893, in a 6-3 win at home to Airdrieonians in the Scottish Alliance League. He scored his second (and final known) goal for us on Saturday, 4th February, 1893, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Northern in the Scottish Alliance League. That turned out to be his last known game for the club, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 3 occasions. His club-list included Glasgow Wanderers and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Tom died. *

![]() Inchview was scarcely fit for football when Tom made his debut, a 0-2 friendly loss at home to Port Glasgow Athletic. On 16th January 1893, the Scottish Referee wrote: "McInnes, late of the Wanderers, partnered White on the left, but will have to show up better 'ere he gets his place. The snow may have been against him." Thistle were enjoying their second season in the recently formed Scottish Alliance league and the left-sided forward subsequently featured in a couple of those games, scoring in a 6-3 win over Airdrieonians as well as a 1-2 defeat at home to Northern. On the face of it, it would seem harsh that he was never given another chance at first-team level. |
