 Steven Docherty was born on Saturday, 16th August, 2008, in Glasgow. The 5' 7 (9st 6lbs) midfielder signed for Mark Wilson's Thistle on Friday, 12th June, 2026, having most recently been with Partick Thistle U-19. Aged 17, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 27th June, 2026, in a 0-0 friendly draw away to Pollok. We look forward to seeing him score his first goal for Thistle. His club-list includes only Partick Thistle - good man! Steven is contracted at Firhill until May, 2028. |
 He joined at the age of 6 and, after more than 10 years in the Thistle Academy, the potential of the 17-year-old Steven was recognised in the summer of 2026 when he signed a two year modern apprenticeship deal with Mark Wilson's Thistle. Aggressive, strong and a good playmaker when given the freedom to roam; goals and assists are a big bonus aspect of his more creative play in central midfield. He does like to get forward as often as possible, but has proved equally adept when regularly utilised in the holding role for Gary Irvine's 19s. Has played up well beyond his years in the Academy for the last few seasons, for example scoring in the Scottish Cup for the Thistle U-18s just a few weeks after turning 15! Doc' was a mainstay of the top level youth team (18s then 19s) that finished as league runners-up in both 2024-25 and 2025-26. He bagged 11 goals in all competitions during those two seasons and many more assists. In late June 2026, the youngster made his first team debut in front of a near 2,000 crowd at Newlandsfield Park, replacing Tsoanelo Letsosa for the full second half of the 0-0 pre-season friendly draw at Pollok. He made his first competitive matchday squad on the opening game of the season versus Brechin City in the League Cup. |
