Stephen Paul Hendrie was born on Sunday, 8th January, 1995, in Glasgow. The 5' 10 (11st 0lbs) defender signed for Ian McCall's Thistle on Thursday, 9th September, 2021, having most recently been with Morecambe. Aged 26, he made his debut appearance on Friday, 8th October, 2021, in a 2-0 defeat away to Queen of the South in the Challenge Cup. There were no goals for Stephen during his time with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Friday, 6th May, 2022, in a 1-0 defeat away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the SPFL Premiership play-offs, having appeared as a Jag on 19 occasions. At August, 2022, his club-list included Hamilton Academical, West Ham United, Southend United, Blackburn Rovers, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Morecambe, Partick Thistle and Queen of the South. |
Hendrie received his first international call up, to the Scotland under-17 squad on 12 October 2011, within months of having made his professional debut with Hamilton. In May 2012, Hendrie was called up to the Scotland under-20 squad for a youth tournament in the Netherlands, where he appeared in three of the tournament's five matches. He made his international debut for the under-21s in September 2014. In all, he appeared on 17 occasions for Scotland squads up to the under-21s level. Hendrie put pen to paper on a short term deal at Firhill on 9th September 2021. The left-back arrived at Thistle having most recently played with Morecambe, featuring 45 times for the Shrimps as they earned promotion to EFL League One via the play-offs in 2021-22. Hendrie’s senior career began with Hamilton as he racked up over 100 appearances for Accies before leaving for West Ham in 2015. Thereafter he spent time on loan with Southend and Blackburn before signing a permanent deal with the former. Further to that he had short spells back in his homeland at Motherwell (2018) and Kilmarnock (2019). In August 2022, he signed a one year deal with 3rd tier Queen of the South. |
