| Robert Middleton |
Robert Watson Middleton was born on Tuesday, 17th June, 1862, in Kelvinhaugh, Glasgow. The midfielder joined Thistle in 1885, having most recently been with Partick Rovers. Aged 23, he made his first known appearance on Saturday, 26th September, 1885, in a 2-2 friendly draw at home to Dumbarton. Robert scored his only known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 12th March, 1887, in an 11-1 friendly win at home to Clyde. He played his last known game for the club on Saturday, 14th April, 1888, in a 4-2 friendly win away to Kilbirnie, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 52 occasions. His club-list included Partick Rovers and Partick Thistle. Robert died on Thursday, 29th July, 1920, in Whiteinch, Glasgow, aged 58.

In his personal life, he married Rebecca Fleming in Partick in 1890 and they raised a family together. By the 1901 census they had 3 children; Mary (b. 1891), Robert (b. 1896) and Thomas (b. 1900). |
