 Robert Dunn was born on Thursday, 28th June, 1979, in Glasgow. The 5' 9 (10st 5lbs) forward signed for Murdo MacLeod's Thistle on Friday, 27th June, 1997, having most recently been with Possilpark YMCA. Aged 18, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 22nd July, 1997, in a 3-0 friendly defeat at home to Aston Villa. Robert scored his first goal for Thistle on Monday, 20th July, 1998, in a 2-1 friendly win away to Stenhousemuir. He scored the last of his 21 goals on Saturday, 29th January, 2000, in a 2-1 win away to Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 10th February, 2001, in a 4-0 win at home to Forfar Athletic in the SFL Second Division, having appeared as a Jag on 98 occasions. Robert's club-list included Partick Thistle, Airdrieonians, Dumbarton, Stirling Albion, St Mirren, Queen's Park, Vale of Clyde and Cambuslang Rangers. |
 Top scorer and player of the year in 98/99, Dunn looked to be the perfect example of the rewards that can be reaped if a club perseveres with a youth policy. He netted his first senior goal against Queen of the South and took great confidence from that, eventually finishing his first full season with 14 goals. However, his form then suffered, and he eventually found himself behind the likes of McLean, Lindau, Shaw and McGrillen and was allowed to join Airdrie in March 2001 in search of first team football. |
