Bio Extra

Was with Rangers Youth Academy from 8-year-old, but was released in the summer of 2021. With his Dad (Iain, himself a striker who played against Thistle for Albion Rovers and Berwick Rangers) being manager at East Kilbride Thistle, he had a spell with them to keep his fitness levels up. Played in their West of Scotland League opener against Glasgow Perthshire in July 2021. This is what the manager said about his boy after that game:

He's 6' 2 and built like a man. He had been at Rangers since he was 8-years-old, but he's had other full-time offers after leaving. He has offers from Derby County, Fleetwood and a few other clubs. He was very, very unlucky not to get a contract at Rangers. Ricco's technically good, he's rapid and he's also got good physicality - I wouldn't like to play against him when he's 25-year-old. He prefers playing out on the wing but he can also play through the middle. He's two footed and he can go down the line or cut inside.

Ricco followed his Dad to Rossvale in August 2021, and came on and scored on his debut at Kilbirnie Ladeside. Whilst at Rossvale, Ricco had a flexible loan arrangement with Fauldhouse United that same year, before finding a place at the Thistle Weir Youth Academy to continue his development. Whilst still a player for the Partick Thistle under 17s, Ricco got a call up to the first team in March 2022, making the bench for a 1-2 League defeat at Kilmarnock in front of over 5,000. He made his competitive debut 10 months later, coming on as a late sub in a 1-0 League defeat at home to Hamilton Academical. Thistle were also playing Accies on the day Ricco was born - 7th May 2005. Such are the quirky fates of life! Signed a two year modern apprenticeship deal with Thistle in July 2023, upgraded to a full professional contract just a year later, taking him through to the summer of 2027.

With suspension and injury ruling out Brian Graham and Tomi Adeloye, Ricco was granted his first senior start on 2nd December 2023 in a home league match with Airdrie. It was a dream start for the 18-year-old, who did well to redirect Aidan Fitzpatrick's cross into the bottom corner of the net. His headed goal was clocked at just 6 and a half minutes! It helped put an important three points on the board; Partick Thistle 2 Airdrieonians 1.
