 R. Middleton (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The midfielder joined Thistle in 1885, having most recently been with Partick Rovers. He made his first known appearance on Saturday, 26th September, 1885, in a 2-2 friendly draw at home to Dumbarton. Middleton scored his only known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 12th March, 1887, in an 11-1 friendly win at home to Clyde. He played his last known game for the club on Saturday, 14th April, 1888, in a 4-2 friendly win away to Kilbirnie, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 52 occasions. His club-list included Partick Rovers and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Middleton died. *
