| R. Brown |
R. Brown (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The goalkeeper first appeared for Thistle in August, 1887. He made his first-known appearance on Saturday, 13th August, 1887, in a 3-2 friendly win at home to Northern. There were no goals for Brown during his spell at Thistle. He made his second and last-known appearance on Saturday, 5th May, 1888, in a 4-2 friendly win at home to Maybole. His known club-list included only Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Brown died. *

![]() We know nothing about this goalkeeper other than that which is stated above. The initial 'R' was quoted in the press for his August 1887 appearance, differentiating him from 'Robert Brown' who was playing outfield on the same day. The second appearance in May 1888 had no initial, but we've presumed him to be the same player. Of the several reserve team line-ups we've seen for 1887-88, none feature a 'Brown' in goals, the stated reserves 'keeper seems to have been 'Urquhart'. |
