Pierre Maxim was probably born in France, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The midfielder joined Ian McCall's Thistle for a trial period in July, 2007.

He made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 17th July, 2007, in a 2-2 friendly draw away to Stenhousemuir.

There were no goals for Pierre in his short spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 24th July, 2007, in a 2-0 friendly defeat at home to Leicester City, having appeared as a Jag on 4 occasions.

Pierre's known club-list includes only Partick Thistle.

Bio Extra

Being an archivist trying to preserve the statistical history of a football club can be a challenging task, never truer than in the close season of 2007 when Partick Thistle flew in no fewer than FIVE French mystery men for a packed pre-season programme. Pierre was described as a "Brahim Hemdani look-a-like" in the Evening Times, which gave us our first crucial clue. Unfortunately, that reporter let himself down by saying that he was one of the Frenchmen who was making a first-time appearance against Falkirk (19th July) but photographic evidence tells us differently, for he'd featured 2 nights previously at Ochilview. Style wise, Pierre was described as a link-up player, also good at running at players. Whilst on trial at Thistle he played centre midfield as well as to the right side.

In the aftermath of the Ayr United game (21st July), it was reported that Ian McCall had pruned down his quota of four French trialists to just one (although there'd be another later!), with only midfielder Pierre Maxim being retained for the visit of Leicester City. The Thistle gaffer said: "Pierre has really impressed me with his passing and his aggressive attitude and we will have a final look at him tomorrow night and make a decision. As regards the other French lads, they are maybe just not quite what we are looking for. We are also at a stage now where players coming in must be better than those we have here and I didn't think that was the case from Saturday's evidence. But our search goes on and I am still determined to make more additions before the start of the season."

Unfortunately for Pierre, he was hindered by a slight hamstring problem in the lead-up to his D-Day game versus Leicester. He started anyway, but pulled up after half an hours play, and was replaced by Jimmy Gibson. If the decision to offer him terms was in the balance, then the scales tipped away at that very moment. Frustratingly, we can find no trace of Pierre as a player, so his story remains a mystery only part-solved.
