Peter Cunningham was born on Friday, 13th July, 1906, in Glasgow. The 5' 9½ (11st 9lbs) forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Thursday, 7th August, 1930, having most recently been with Clyde. Aged 24, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 27th August, 1930, in a 3-3 friendly draw away to King's Park. That day, Peter became a member of our scoring debutant's club. He scored the last of his 5 goals on Saturday, 18th April, 1931, in a 2-1 win away to Heart of Midlothian in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 22nd April, 1931, in a 1-1 draw at home to Rangers in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 8 occasions. His club-list included Clyde, Partick Thistle, Cork, Barnsley, Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra. Peter died on Sunday, 2nd September 1934, in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, aged 28. |
