Bio Extra

Become part of a Thistle transfer record when he and Andy Murdoch joined Thistle from Celtic in Januray 1991. Paul had a very unfortunate Thistle debut against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park with his first touch as a Thistle player being a poorly struck back pass which led to the game's only goal. Paul soon put that mishap behind him and although Thistle didn't win promotion that season, they managed to make the step up to the Premier League 12 months later with Paul playing a big role in that success. However, it's his exploits in the 1998 Tennents Sixes for which he will be best remembered. Despite possessing a thunderbolt shot, he only ever managed one first team goal for Thistle and that came in a pre-season friendly against Balintore - but he managed no fewer than 5 in the semi-final and final of the Tennents Sixes, with Thistle defeating Airdrie 4-3 in the final. Left Firhill on a free transfer, the manager citing a problem with his weight as the reason, and went to Ireland to play with Derry City. While at Derry he played against Thistle in a pre-season friendly with some of the travelling Jags fans good-naturedly taunting him with Mars Bars.
