![]() Paul McGovern was born on Thursday, 31st October, 1968, in Edinburgh. The 5' 8½ (10st 10lbs) forward signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Tuesday, 17th July, 1990, having most recently been with Hibernian. Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 1st August, 1990, in a 1-1 friendly draw away to Gretna. Paul scored his first two goals for Thistle on Saturday, 13th October, 1990, in a 4-2 win away to Clyde in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 4 goals on Tuesday, 16th April, 1991, in a 2-0 win at home to Clyde in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 14th December, 1991, in a 2-0 win away to Ayr United in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 30 occasions. Paul's club-list included Royston Rosebery, Hibernian, Partick Thistle, Montrose, Berwick Rangers and Gala Fairydean. |
![]() Joined Thistle on a free transfer from Hibs in the summer of 1990 after a number of seasons on the fringe of the first team at Easter Road. A prolific scorer for the Thistle reserve team he was unable to translate that form into goals for the Thistle first team at a consistent rate. Left Firhill on a free transfer at the end of the 91/92 season and has been playing non-league football in Scotland since. |
