Murray John Lauden McDowell was born on Friday, 17th February, 1978, in Dundee.

The 5' 11 (11st 11lbs) forward signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Tuesday, 14th August, 2001, having most recently been with Cowdenbeath.

Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 14th August, 2001, in a 5-3 win (aet) away to Raith Rovers in the Challenge Cup.
