Murray James McDermott was born on Thursday, 2nd February, 1950, in Edinburgh.

The goalkeeper temporarily transferred to Billy Lamont's Thistle in October, 1987, from his parent club, Meadowbank Thistle.

Aged 37, he made his only appearance on Saturday, 24th October, 1987, in a 4-3 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division.

His club-list included Rangers, Raith Rovers, Penicuik Athletic, Berwick Rangers, Morton, Heart of Midlothian, Arbroath, Meadowbank Thistle, Spartans and Partick Thistle.

Murray died on Friday, 7th February, 2003, aged 53.

Played one game, against Raith Rovers, while on loan from Meadowbank while Brough and McLean were injured. Thistle lost 3-4.
