Muir [ii] |
![]() Muir (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The midfielder was possibly a guest player for George Easton's Thistle in August, 1918. He made his only appearance on Saturday, 10th August, 1918, in a 2-1 defeat away to Motherwell in a Benefit match. There were no goals for Muir in his one-off appearance for Thistle. His known club-list included only Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Muir died. *

![]() Muir's identity eludes us, although a Muir (St Anthony's) turned out for Thistle v QP on 27th April 1915 in a fund-raiser for Pollok. The score is not known so the game/appearance is not in the database. It's possible that this is the same guy, listed as no.6 (left half) on both occasions. This "second" game was the season opener in 1918, again a charity match, this time at Fir Park. Thistle started brightly but once Motherwell took the lead with a fast, low drive (30) they had most of the game. In the second half, Jim Marshall got Thistle's goal from a breakaway beating the keeper “in good style” but by then Motherwell had gone 2-up. A fair result on the day. |
