Bio Extra

Our 'keepers were conceding 3-goals-per-game in 1899, but McKay could not be faulted, conceding just the one when he got a turn in the last game of the season, a Glasgow League engagement vs. Third Lanark at Old Cathkin Park. The identity of McKay eludes us, but we note that Miller of Falkirk Amateurs made his only appearance too that day, so perhaps that's an indicator of some sort. 2,000 were there to see it on the pleasant afternoon of 13th May 1899. A single goal (10) settled a closely fought match in which Thistle fought pluckily but the forwards were poor. The Jags did “score” once but it was disallowed.
