McFarlane (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The midfielder possibly joined Thistle as a guest in April, 1891.

He made his first-known appearance on Saturday, 25th April, 1891, in a 4-1 friendly defeat away to Kilbirnie.

There were no goals for McFarlane during his spell with Thistle.

He made his second and last-known appearance on Thursday, 30th April, in a 3-0 friendly defeat away to Linthouse.

His known club-list included only Partick Thistle.

Historian's note: Given the propensity for trialists utilizing multiple psuedonyms in this era, we note that we had an unidentified McKinnon [ii] playing at #5 on 18th April, 1891 followed by the similarly unidentified McFarlane, also a #5, exactly 7 days later. Might they be one and the same player?
