Sloppy Thistle survived a poor pass-back thanks to a save by debutant keeper Roberts. The last 15 minutes before h-t saw an improvement but it didn’t last. Morton probably edged it on chances but, in truth, neither keeper was troubled. Not a match to linger long in the memory. Take the point and clean sheet and move on.

TTA man of the match

Clean-sheet debutant MYLES ROBERTS bossed his area vocally and physically and made a point-winning save from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in the first half which calmed Firhill in general, never mind the team.

Partick Thistle and Greenock Morton started their Scottish Championship campaigns with a point each at Firhill. Morton started the better, with Owen Moffat, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Arron Lyall threatening. Thistle came more into the game and Kyle Turner, Scott Robinson, Aidan Fitzpatrick and Harry Milne all having opportunities. Morgan Boyes and Moffat threatened again for the visitors, while Logan Chalmers' free-kick for Thistle was just too high. The draw means Thistle have gone three games without a victory within 90 minutes, although they did take the penalty shoot-out bonus point in a League Cup group game draw with Motherwell.

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan (speaking to Jagzone):

I think we made some good chances and Ryan Mullen makes some great saves, Harry Milne at the back post and Scott Robinson in the first half, but I never felt we were at our fluent best, especially coming forward. We kinda went too long, too often, too soon, usually we pass the ball a bit better and use the midfield a bit better, and that doesn't really help any of us. Defensively I thought we looked strong and assured bar one mistake, and we looked like we were more than capable of handling their attacks. I thought Myles was terrific in goals, anything he was asked to do he done well, and you can see the attributes that he's got already. We want to get those goals against down from last year and we've got a clean-sheet, but on the other side of that we wanted a wee bit more going forward today.
