A much improved performance in which Thistle dominated. Fitzpatrick (set up by McInroy) dinked the keeper (23) and they combined again for his shot in the corner (61). Graham scored at the near post (74) and a late header (87) didn't prove crucial. Neither did Lawless' saved pen (51) nor Milne's early headed "goal" that was ruled out.

TTA man of the match

AIDAN FITZPATRICK returned from injury seamlessly, terrorizing the Arbroath defence with his quickness and control. Two beautifully taken goals and a won penalty made him the ultimate standout, but the whole team were candidates.

Partick Thistle consolidated their place in the Scottish Championship promotion play-offs with a straightforward victory at Arbroath. Aidan Fitzpatrick scored in each half, and Brian Graham added a third, to earn Kris Doolan's side the points that keep them in third place. Kerr McInroy was the supplier for both of Fitzpatrick's goals, while Graham took advantage of a slack pass back to complete the win. Stevie Lawless missed a penalty and Harry Milne had an effort disallowed but that mattered little in the end. Neither did Jermaine Hylton's late consolation, as defeat means Arbroath remain in seventh place.

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan (speaking to Jagzone):

Right from the first minute we were after them, and that's something we didn't do in the first game at Firhill. They imposed themselves on us at Firhill, and we were adamant today that we were going to impose our game on them. I was pleased with the manner in which we done it, the chances we created - we had two goals chopped off - and the fact that we are creating those types of chances shows that you're on the front foot from the start, and I felt that, for major parts of the game, we were in control of it. I felt as though we had a number of threats going forward, but also defensively and in the midfield we worked ever so hard to stop goals. It was a team performance; infividually we played really well and collectively we played exceptionally well. To come here, and to win like that against a team like Arbroath, is really satisfying for us.
