Excellent saves denied Graham and Tiffoney as Thistle enjoyed a good spell before half-time. A poor pass out of defence by Brownlie gifted ICT a cross that was turned in (50). Ex-JAG Welsh was red-carded (56) but constant pressure failed to produce a goal. The quality of crosses was poor and the keeper wasn't tested enough.

Ten-man Inverness Caledonian Thistle ended fourth-top Partick Thistle's six-game unbeaten run to move up to sixth in the Scottish Championship. Caley Thistle survived more than 30 minutes a man down after Sean Welsh was shown a straight red card for a professional foul on Scott Tiffoney. It came shortly after Nathan Shaw's close-range finish from a cross from fellow midfielder Jay Henderson. Both goalkeepers produced fine saves before the deadlock was broken. And home number one Mark Ridgers followed that up by denying Brian Graham two more times as the striker sought a 15th goal of the season. Caley Thistle's third consecutive 1-0 win over the Glasgow side means they are unbeaten in five at home to Partick and resurrects their own promotion play-off hopes.

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan (speaking to the BBC):

It was a tough game as we expected, but it's taken for us to almost give away a goal to give a team a lift that we can't really afford to do. It's 7 games it's taken for us to do that, for a team to break us down. And we threw everything at Inverness, if you look at the team that's on at the end, we've thrown the kitchen sink at them. I felt if we'd got one we'd probably have went on and got a second, but they defended well and threw everything in front of the ball as you'd expect them to do. We just couldn't get that equaliser and we can't ask any more and it's about getting a reaction now in the next game, which I'm sure the boys will.

We knew we had to win tonight or the playoff dreams were probably over. We say the word proud a lot in the dressing rooms but I am tonight as we had to win it the hard way. We started well, then they took control as we just started launching it straight away, I'd have liked us to pass it a bit more. We had to hang on. I dont have to [see the red card challenge again], it’s cynical, it’s a trip. I want to move on from it as we’ve had a lot of hard luck, and I know everyone had but we probably have more than most, and I'd rather move on as if I say something I'll get into trouble. We’ll be appealing it.
