Thistle faded after a bright start then Queens scored with a fine half volley (20). Cole's free-kick was parried and Cardle scored from close in (70) to spur Thistle on. Cole's 20-yarder was palmed on to bar and post and in (85) to win the points in a game that they never looked like winning until they levelled. Up to 9th.

Reece Cole's late winner against Queen of the South moved Partick Thistle off the foot of the Scottish Championship. Queens' goalkeeper Robby McCrorie was perhaps unsighted as on-loan Brentford midfielder Cole's 20-yard strike came through a ruck of bodies and went in off post and crossbar. Alan Johnston's side had taken the lead through Connor Murray. But they missed chances and Joe Cardle's close range equaliser gave Thistle life before their winner. Darren Lyon was stretchered off in the first half for Queens after being struck in the face by the ball and knocked unconscious.

I never lost belief and I hope the players didn't either. Once we equalised we looked like the stronger team. We've just got to win games, it doesn't matter how.

Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston (speaking to the BBC):

We scored a wonderful goal and I don't think Thistle cut us open at all in the first half. We had four or five good chances and we've got to score one. If you don't then they come back to haunt you.
