An instantly forgettable first half ended 1-1 (shots on target). Thistle's possession was ponderous and side to side until Slater fired home a low shot from 20 yards (57). Poor defending saw Falkirk poke the ball over Sneddon (59). Ultra defensive Falkirk came out to play and both teams had late spells of pressure.

Falkirk and Partick Thistle could not be separated as they both remain in the bottom two in the Championship. Craig Slater gave Thistle a second-half lead, but within a minute Falkirk were level through Joe McKee. It means Falkirk stay at the foot of the Championship, with Gary Caldwell's side just two points above them. It's Thistle's first league point since in almost two months, but Caldwell is still searching for his first win since taking charge.

Injury to key players affected both sides in the build up to this one, and 25 minutes before kick-off Thistle lost goalkeeper Cammy Bell who injured himself in the warm-up. With both teams looking nervy early on, this game offered very little in the first half. Thistle enjoyed greater possession, but to little impact.

The visitors started the second half as they did the first, but they had a bit more about them and they were duly rewarded when the ball fell to Slatter and he fired low in to the corner. But Falkirk produced an immediate response. McKee's toe poked the ball past Jamie Sneddon. The goals livened this match up, and both teams seemed to gain confidence, with further chances at either end. Blair Spitall almost made it 2 -1 to the visitors with a well taken free-kick 25 yards out, but Leonardo Fasan got his finger tips to it. And Fasan again did well to keep out Kris Doolan's glancing header. In the final minutes Ton Dallison's header was deflected wide for Falkirk.

Partick Thistle manager Gary Caldwell (speaking to the BBC):

It was an outstanding performance away from home, a high pressure game, the bravery in possession, the control of the goal, the understanding of how we wanted to play, a fantastic performance. I think anyone at the game would say we should have won the game. They [Falkirk] will probably admit that as well.

Falkirk manager Ray McKinnon (speaking to the BBC):

Going into the game with the three players missing I probably would have taken a point. The players they worked their socks off, they worked extremely hard. We had to play in a certain manner today and we did that. They limited Partick Thistle to virtually nothing, and then a great response when we lost the goal.
