An error-strewn stalemate, almost devoid of skill, until Elliott failed to trap a cross and the goal came from 6 yards (69). Thistle's “passing game” had no end product but neither had Dunfermline's more direct approach until they scored. After that they were on top. Mutombo went close (90+) but it was far too late.

Dunfermline Athletic recorded their first win in seven games with a narrow victory over a blunt Partick Thistle. This was Thistle's fourth straight defeat on the road in the Scottish Championship after a disappointing night at East End Park. They contributed to their own downfall as they presented Aidan Connolly with the chance to open the scoring. It was a slip-up from which they failed to recover as the hosts held on to their slender winning margin.

The decisive goal came in calamitous fashion with 69 minutes on the clock. Andy Ryan sent a teasing cross into the danger area over the heads of the home attackers but, as Niall Keown attempted to clear, he knocked the ball straight into the path of Connolly to tap in. Thistle's best effort in the game came in the first half when Blair Spittal had a clear sight of the target but pulled his effort well wide. Ryan came close to a second for the Pars but his header was inches the wrong side of Cammy Bell's goal, while Connolly smashed the ball off the post. Despite the win Dunfermline remain eighth in the Championship with eight points but are now just one behind Thistle.

I thought before the goal, it was very even. Neither team really created much and, to be honest, we should have been ahead after Blair Spittal chance in the first half. Despite that, we concede another goal we gift to our opponents and then they had five or ten minutes where you could see their confidence was high. We could have got an equaliser at the end but they defended well and earned their points. We’ve analysed our away games to death and when you look at the goals, it’s not as if we’re being carved open. After the goal, we lost our way a bit and could have conceded again but the actual chance that makes a difference comes from our mistake and it’s one moment like that which can decide a game.
