Queens scored with their first attack (4). Doolan fired home a low driven cross (32). Thistle fell behind to a goal on the break (34) but Spittal lashed home a half-hit clearance (38). His magnificent top-corner 20-yarder (41) made it 3-2. Doolan hit the post (68) then lots of Queens pressure was contained for the win.

Blair Spittal scored twice as Partick Thistle came from behind twice to beat Queen of the South and leapfrog the visitors in the Championship table. Stephen Dobbie drove in his 21st goal of the season to edge Queens in front after only four minutes. Kris Doolan equalised from close range, but Josh Todd's shot restored the lead. However, Spittal pounced at a goalmouth scramble and, two minutes later, struck a stunning 25-yard volley to end the scoring before the half-time break. The win lifts Thistle into sixth place, one place and one point above the Dumfries visitors.

Speaking to the BBC, Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald said:

I'm delighted with the victory and the character to come back a couple of times and score some really good goals. We showed good character. We kept passing the ball and scored very good goals in terms of moving the ball and cutting Queen of the South open. In the first game of the season down at Ayr we had three subs. The difference now is we have a full bench and we actually could pick and choose who goes on. Long may that continue. We've waited a long time to get the guys back.

SPITTAL ON FIRE AGAIN

● Blair Spittal sets a new personal-best run in the team, with his 23rd consecutive competitive appearance.

● Each of Thistle's last 5 goals have featured Blair as scorer or provider.

● With his 117th goal, Kris Doolan becomes the all-time highest scorer in our Major Competitive category, one more than Willie Sharp who had held the position for almost 62 years.

● With his 10th goal against the Doonhamers, Kris now sits as our second highest ever scorer against them, and is now chasing down Willie Sharp (16). It's the first time Dools has went into double figures against any one club.

● With their third consecutive win over Queen of the South, Thistle are one away from equalling the H2H record (4) set in 1958.
