Thistle had so much of the play, the game should have been wrapped up by half-time. Morton had one shot on target in the first half. The second half was more even and eventually Morton applied some sustained pressure. Tuffey saved a penalty with 3 minutes left. Defeat would have been very hard to take.

Morton substitute Ryan McGuffie missed a penalty in the last minute as the Ton had to settle for a share of the spoils against Partick at Cappielow. The former Gretna man fired his effort from 12 yards too close to Thistle's Jonny Tuffey. Morton's opportunity was given for a foul on substitute Brian Wake by Thistle's Willie Kinningburgh. Lee Robinson turned away a deflected Ryan Harding clearance at full stretch and Scott Chaplin spurned a chance.
