Play was restricted to the midfield early on with few chances. Donnelly brought out a fine save as Thistle pressed. Livingston had the first chance of the second half, a 30 yarder saved by Tuffey. Thistle found themselves on the back foot as Livingston went close but poor finishing/Tuffey earned a replay.

The all-First Division Scottish Cup encounter ended in a drab stalemate as neither side did enough to win. Thistle's Simon Donnelly came closest to scoring in an uneveventful first half when his goal-bound header was superbly palmed away by Colin Stewart. Livingston's first attempt on goal came in the 70th minute when Robert Snodgrass's free-kick flashed wide. And Graeme Dorrans had a great chance to win the tie late on but his effort summed up the afternoon's play - poor.
