A surprisingly easy win over top of the league Hamilton. 2 goals by McKinlay (when Buchanan's mishit shot fell kindly, 24, and a header, 35) set Thistle up and Buchanan scored a pen (54) when Harkins was pulled down. Tuffey had a fine save, Archibald hit the bar (68) and cleared a shot off the line (81).

A Kevin McKinlay double sent First Division leaders Hamilton crashing to defeat at Firhill. McKinlay burst in from the left to drill an angled shot past goalkeeper Bryn Halliwell after 24 minutes. The Jags doubled their lead after 35 minutes when a marvellous Liam Buchanan cross picked out McKinlay at the back post to power in a downward header. Accies' misery was added to on 55 minutes when Gary Harkins was tripped and Buchanan netted from the spot.
