It was scrappy at first. Thistle defended a corner poorly and Queens scored (14). They were 2nd best until the second half and they equalised (64) when Buchanan slotted home a Roberts header. He scored with a back post header (69) to set up a nervy last 20 minutes but they saw it out, surviving 2 penalty claims.

Liam Buchanan scored twice to as Partick Thistle recovered from losing an early goal at Palmerston. The visitors' defence failed to deal with a corner form Bob Harris and the ball broke for Stephen Dobbie to smash home from six yards. Thistle equalised when Buchanan scored from close range after a defensive mix-up in the home ranks on 63 minutes. The Glasgow side forged ahead soon after when Buchanan rose to head home a corner from Simon Storey.
